DC Take a Flying Leap

Hello, crafters! Did you already notice that tomorrow is a very special day?! The Daring Cardmakers have the matching challenge for you.

It's Svenja here and for this week I'm asking you for a little movement: tomorrow is a special day that only comes up once every 4 years... february 29th. And if time is taking a leap, I guess so can we. Therefore I'm challengeing you all to

Take a Flying Leap!

Show us things, animals or people that jump or leap on your cards - bunnies, frogs, squirrels, Bob Beamon... what else can you think of?

I made a card for my nephew. You can see a leaping fox on the paper and it looks really impressive „in real“ as well:

It’s a flip-it card so it was a bit tricky to take photos.

Have a great and crafty weekend!

DC All tied up

Hello, crafters!

Yay! It’s Friday again and here is the new Daring Cardmakers challenge for you.

Kathy challenges you this week with the following topic.

All Tied Up

I'd love to see you using some kind of thread, wool, fibres,

twine, string etc on your cards. You can use a little, maybe just a small twine bow,  or make it more of a feature and wind lots of fibre or string around to make a background.

I really like adding little bows to card as it often gives this finished feeling to me. Here is another moving house card that I made for my aunt.

DC someone or something you love

Hello, lovely readers! I wish you a great Friday and a happy Valetine’s Day. This week the Daring Cardmakers have a great challenge for you.

Dawn wants you to make cards for the following topic:

Someone or Something You Love

I want you to feature something on your creations that you LOVE.

Besides my favourite beloved people, one of my biggest loves is reading … and books in general.

I also love crafting and I found the ultimate way for me to combine my two most favourite hobbies: creating bookmarks. (So no cards here this week...)

With my banner dies that’s super quick and easy.

And a great way to use up paper scraps or paper pads.

And a great way to practise handlettering.

A few years ago I thought about ways of making more time for reading … and I found the best way for myself: I stopped watching TV in the evening and read a book instead. In 2019 I read 60 books 😊.

To make progress in my „magic cleaning“ journey as well, I borrow nearly all the books I read from our local library (or friends). So our book cases aren’t overflowing.

I think it’s always cute to create a matching bookmark for your cards and give it away as a little set. I always keep in my mind that my bookmark shouldn’t be longer than a standard sized envelope.

DC February Elemental Inspiration

Hello. It’s the first Friday in February and like the past few years the Daring Cardmakers‘ will welcome each new month of the year with an inspirational picture.

Ruth picked this fabulous picture:

Pick at least three elements and use them on your cards.

I love cacti! 💘So I immediatly knew where to start … I also added a bold die cut sentiment, a heart and a cute XOX strip of paper (from the same paper pad!).

On this weekend I was very motivated and had lots of time to craft, so I even added a stamped sentiment on the insert

and created a matching bookmark.

DC layers

Hello, friends! Happy Friday!

Shabneez from the Daring Cardmakers has a new challenge for you. This week it’s all about layers:

Layering papers, stamps, images etc.

Pile them up on your cards and share them with us!

My aunt asked me if I could make invitations for my grandma’s birthday party … as soon as possible 😉. So I had no time to order matching papers, but decided to raid my stuff and use up what I already had.

I started out with golden cardstock for the numbers and tried to find papers that had gold in it or just matched somehow. Here’s the result. I layered the papers and added a self-made embellishment with the golden 90 on top!

And in the end I glued a gold embellished sentiment on top oft he papers. So … lots of layering here.

DC Cheer someone up

Yay! It’s Friday. It was my turn to pick the topic fort he Daring Cardmakers this week.

Today I want to challenge you to CHEER SOMEONE UP!

You probably know someone, who is ill or sad or having a rough time at the moment?! Make a card with an encouraging or funny sentiment to help lifting their spirits.

I think this coffee set has a very encouraging sentiment… and coffee always helps at least a little, I think. (Especially in combination with a good conversation with a special person)

DC Something new!

Hello… hello … it’s Friday *yay*! The new year still feels pretty new and exciting to me and here is our new Daring Cardmakers‘challenge to capture the feeling.

Something New.
We're still at the start of the year so for Ruth's
challenge we're celebrating all things New!
New Year, New Home, New Job or New Baby,
or even New Stash or New Technique!
It's up to you.

Quite a few people I know moved houses at the beginning of the year …. So they have a really new start this year. It was important to me to make a card for them and give them a little something to feel at home asap. Here’s the first card.

I still love the „skyline scene“ that I bought years ago and I love the combination of black silhouette and colourful background. In this case I used distress oxide inks to create a night sky.
