DC String Theory

Hello everybody. Here comes the new Daring Cardmakers challenge.

String Theory 

It's Kathy here today and don't worry, this week's challenge has absolutely nothing to do with physics (which I think String Theory does).  I don't "do" science - never have and never will, it just goes whooosh right over my poor little blonde head 

 All I'd like you to do this time, is to use string, twine, thread, fibres or that sort of thing when you make you card.  

You could use a little or a lot, I really don't mind.

The end-of-the-schoolyear-chaos took over … but I made this card for a friend’s daughter, who was born last week. It already arrived and I can show it here. The twine behind the unicorn is just a little embellishment, but I like the playful touch.

Aber keine Sorge! Es geht nicht um Physik. Verwendet einfach einen Faden, ein wenig Wolle oder Nähgarn etc. auf eurer Karte.

Mich hat das Chaos am Ende eines jeden Schuljahres erreicht … aber für die süße Tochter eine Freundin musste ich einfach ein Kärtchen basteln und auf den Weg schicken.

Der Faden ist nur ein kleines, verspieltes Detail im Hintergrund, aber mir gefällt es ganz gut.

Hello crafters. I’m a little bit late to show you the latest Daring Cardmakers challenge…

Enfys picked a topic that goes well with the beginning of the summer holidays in England. 

We still have 1 ½ weeks to go here in my lovely South-German state – but it’s already so very beautiful to walk through the summery woods and I’ve already seen several foxes last week on my way home from yet another BBQ party.

(I had to drive through woods – even here I wouldn’t walk through the woods at night).

Think of country walks, picnics, rope swings, nature trails, camping......all those things that make summer such a joy

My crafty friends borrowed me this nice wood creature stamp set from SU. We live in the same town now and share/swap our stamp sets and products. It’s great!

Ab in den Wald!

Ich liebe Waldspaziergänge und mein neues Zuhause liegt noch einmal viel näher am Wald als meine letzte Wohnung. Tagsüber* sieht man zwar leider nicht ganz so viele Tiere, aber dafür habe ich letzte Woche zwei Füchse gesehen als ich nachts durch den Wald gefahren bin. Faszinierend!

*wobei ich mir sicher bin, dass ich neulich eine Eule von Ast zu Ast fliegen sah ... mein Freund glaubt mir aber nicht ;-)

Ein weiterer Vorteil meines kuscheligen neuen Wohnortes ist, dass hier meine bastelige Freundin lebt. Seitdem treffen wir uns regelmäßig zum basteln oder leihen uns gegenseitig Stempelsets oder Werkzeuge aus. Das ist grandios! Vor allem, da unser Geschmack ähnlich genug ist, dass uns die Produkte gegenseitig gefallen, aber eben doch so unterschiedlich, dass wir viele unterschiedliche Sets/Werkzeuge etc. besitzen.

Als ich das tolle Waldtierestempelset hier hatte, entstanden ein paar hübsche Kärtchen!

DC July Elemental inspiration

 

Hello, crafters. It’s the first Friday in July and Dawn picked a beautiful picture for the Daring Cardmakers' dare.

I was inspired by the flowers, the pastel colours and the gold accents.

Hallo, Bastlerinnen. Es ist der erste Freitag des Monats und Dawn hat ein wunderschönes Bild für die Daring Cardmakers ausgesucht.

Lasst euch davon inspirieren und verwendet mindestens drei Elemente auf eurer Karte.

Ich habe mich von den Blumen, den Pastellfarben und den goldenen Akzenten inspirieren lassen.

If my cards are a bit bulky and I worry that they might be damaged during their journey, I use postcards (from a beautiful 2016 calendar) as a protective layer.

Wenn die Karte ein bisschen dick ist oder ich befürchte, dass aufgeklebte Verzierungen beim Transport Schaden nehmen könnten, verwende ich Postkarten als “Schutzlage” zwischen Karte und Umschlag. Die Postkarten habe ich nicht extra gekauft, sondern aus einem bezaubernden Kalender vom letzten Jahr. 

It’s also great to use nice postage stamps. The birthday ones are cute … but usually I have to pay a bit more than the regular postage.

Es ist auch toll, wenn man hübsche Briefmarken hat. Die aktuellen Geburtstagsmarken gefallen mir sehr gut, aber ich nutze in der Regel 85ct Marken. Nicht, dass der Brief unpünktlich ist, weil er nochmal zum Nachfrankieren zurück kommt.

Sometimes it’s hard to read the address (especially on handmade envelopes with a busy pattern). So I write the address on a white decorative label.

Manchmal ist die Adresse schwer zu lesen. Vor allem auf selbstgemachten Umschlägen mit Zeitschriftenpapier. Dann schreibe ich die Adresse auf ein weißes, hübsches Etikett. 

To make it all a bit easier and faster, I store all my mailing supplies in a drawer of my desk.

Und um mir das Ganze ein wenig einfacher und schneller zu machen, bewahre ich alle Postsachen zusammen in einer Schreibtischschublade auf.

Why don’t you send one of your cards per mail this week? And maybe you’ll find the time to make it extra nice?!

Warum schickst du diese Woche nicht mal eine Karte mit der Post? Und vielleicht findest du auch die Zeit dir eine Extraportion Mühe dabei zu geben?!
