DC Stitch it!

At the moment each Friday means that the moving day is approaching faster and faster … and I have to pack up my (finally well organized) things and put them in boxes.
But I’m still happy about the weekend and here comes the Daring Cardmakers' challenge:

It's Nat here bringing you my first dare of 2017!

Thanks to everyone who played along with Kathy's "New!" challenge last week.

This week I am hoping that you'll be raiding your sewing box or dragging your sewing machine out because I want you to feature stitching on your cards as a real eye-catching element!

You can do some good old hand-stitching with embroidery floss and a needle, machine sewing or even feature dies and stamps that do the stitching for you, or why not draw your own stitched designs by hand?

Nat really challenged me with this dare. As much as I love paper crafting and hand lettering and writing letters … I just can’t get myself motivated to stitch or crochet or knit. I would love to do it, but I loose my patience with thread and needles too easily. (I can do mini projects though)

I wrote down “Baby” with a pencil and used a needle to prick holes in (more or less even) intervals. Then I stitched the word with a really nice yarn. Everything was great … until I dropped an inked stamp on my stitched panel. I tried to save the blotchy piece of paper, but it only got worse. After an hour I tossed it in the bin and started new.
And I must confess that sometimes the biggest challenges have the most surprising outcomes: I really like the stitching and the card (and hope the doctors are right that the next two babies will be boys).

Es ist wieder Freitag. Und auch wenn das bedeutet, dass der Umzug näher rückt, freue ich mich auf das Wochenende.
Hier ist auch die neue Herausforderung der Daring Cardmakers.

STICKEN!

So sehr ich basteln mit Papier liebe, so sehr nervt mich sticken, stricken und häkeln nach einer kleinen Weile. Dafür reicht meine Geduld (oder mein Geschick?) leider nicht.

Hier habe ich das Wort „Baby“ mit Bleistift vorgeschrieben und in regelmäßigen Abständen mit einer Nadel Löcher ins Papier gepikst. Dann habe ich das Wort mit blauer Wolle nachgestickt.
So weit, so gut … dann fiel ein frisch mit Stempelfarbe betupfter Stempel auf mein gesticktes Kunstwerk. Alle Versuche das fleckige Papier zu retten schlugen fehl und nach einer Stunde wanderte das Projekt in den Papierkorb – und ich find noch einmal von vorne an.

Und was soll ich sagen?! Es hat sich gelohnt. Ich bin mit dem Ergebnis (Stickerei und Karte) sehr zufrieden und hoffe, dass meine Freundinnen wirklich Jungs bekommen und die Ärzte sich nicht geirrt haben.
Manchmal führen die echten Herausforderungen eben doch zu den besten Ergebnissen.

Manchmal braucht man montags einfach ein bisschen Magie, die uns hilft zu vergessen, dass das Wochenende gerade rum ist. Aus diesem Grund schaut heute ein Einhorn namens Keksdose vorbei.

"New"

It's the start of a new year, so I'd like you to try something new to you this week. It could be a technique, a card fold, or something else that you've never done before.

A little challenge to yourself maybe to step out of your comfort zone.....

I tried the partial die cutting technique, which helps you to get even more use and awesomeness out of your dies. The technique was on my to-do-list for 2016 and I’m happy that I finally gave it a try.

Kathy von den Daring Cardmakers möchte heute etwas “Neues” auf euren Karten sehen. Neues Papier, neue Werkzeuge, die zum Einsatz kamen, eine neue Technik …

Perfekt für mich. Ich wollte 2016 unbedingt „partial die cutting“ ausprobieren, wobei man nur einen Teil der Stanzform ausschneidet. Somit kann man Schriftzüge „verändern“ oder tolle Klapptechniken ausprobieren und noch viel mehr aus seinen Stanzen heraus holen.

DC January Elemental Inspiration

It’s the first Friday in January … and we’re nearly back to routine. Here comes the Daring Cardmakers dare.

As it’s the first Friday of the month we present you an inspirational picture. Choose three elements and use them on your card.

It's Sharon here, and I'm delighted to be the one choosing the inspirational photo for the very first dare of 2017.

We hope you enjoyed the Christmas break and that Santa brought you all the new crafty goodies you asked for.   We are planning to bring you lots of fabulous inspiration this year, as always, so hope you'll join in with the dares as much as possible.

So as it's our first challenge of the month here's our Wintry, January Elemental Inspiration photo - please use at least 3 elements from the pic on your card (one of those elements can be the colour scheme).

I picked the house, the colours and wood (background paper). As many of my friends (and me too … again L) are moving this year I try to prepare some “Happy new home” cards
